Our planet faces an increasingly uncertain future as the reserves of our most valuable commodities decline. Although a future without oil is plausible, and cities without cars are conceivable, what would we do if the supply of the world’s most precious resource was to disappear? A world without beautiful women would give men no reason to be competitive, the value of investments would be blunted, and glossy magazines would lose their lustre. Devoid of their exquisite splendour, our urban landscapes would become as lifeless as rainforests without birds of paradise, a dull grey monotone devoid of vitality or brilliance. Yet as the stars of today begin to migrate into business and to start their families, it remains our sacred duty to seek to replenish the ranks of our most precious commodity; to usher in the next generation of models whose radiance ultimately inspires all industry and social endeavour. Without the new model generation, what would become of the commercial worlds of cosmetics, magazines, movies, media, advertising and tourism? Who would men dream of, and what images of seductive beauty would cause the male of the species to get out of bed in the morning and keep the wheels of industry turning? With no motivated men seeking to prove themselves worthy of such heavenly visions, there could be no inspiration, no escapist fantasy and no angelic images to pine over. Such an Orwellian vision renders the energy crisis almost immaterial. After all, we can always resort to alternative fuels, but how could we possibly replace our inspiring icons of feminine beauty? Clearly unveiling the stars of tomorrow is no unworthy task, and naturally we take our mission very seriously...
So how does a future model emerge from the masses? What fine margins separate those indefinable subtleties which make one face mesmerizing and another ordinary? How does the difference of a few inches between waist and hip cause heads to turn? How can a spark of vitality in the eye or a flush of the cheeks transform a pretty face into a longing sigh? Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder, and it is perhaps a good thing that we don't all find the same individual irresistibly attractive, or every summer would turn into an extended vacation to Troy. Yet it seems that the images of some women still leap from the printed page, and even a small image or avatar can draw the eye from a busy page to venture further. Beauty is a blend of proportions, ratios and subtle tones that coalesce to make one image alluring and another dull, even before the confirmation of fine resolution. So here follows our selection of future stars whose indefinable balance of figure, face and form brought inspiration to our weary eyes. Perhaps we're biased, but from a shortlist of thousands we were ultimately drawn and spellbound by these belles, unable even to find the presence of mind to prevent our lattes from getting cold. Perhaps we also should mention at this juncture that we are a little superstitious and that as twelve is our lucky number (after all we were assigned twelve disciples, twelve months of the year, and twelve constellations which doubtless guided our selection) we broke the sacred media law of the 'top ten'.
